One Piece (Netflix) Season 2, 2026

March 2026 - Just finished watching this with my friends, honestly this adaptation has me hooked in for whatever its cooking next. This season felt like a big improvement on all fronts from the first. The whole cast is doing an absolutely stellar job and the effects are top notch, both practical and cg. When the show leans into more of a tokusatsu vibe, whether with the fight choreography or creative effects work, the show really starts to shine beautifully. Even if the effects don't depict it perfectly, the fact that they give it 100% still sells this whole world they're putting on screen. When it comes to One Piece, my only previous experience was reading the manga right up to... just after the time skip. I got stuck in a kinda middling arc and dropped off of it. Hopefully, I'll go back and read the rest someday soon to try to catch up but this live action adaptation is doing a great job of howing me those silly straw hats I came to know. God, Sanji is so much better here than in the manga, he is actually tolerable!!! Usopp also gets a major glowup while still keeping his character intact. The way they made the giants work on Little Garden was awesome. I feel iffy about Chopper being a mostly cg critter but they partially make up for this with his big form being practical. Smoker is so cool, hell, everyone is so cool. The casting has been pretty much stellar from top to bottom, everyone does a great job. I'm looking forward to season 3 digging into the Alabasta arc and hoping that this team can keep up their hot streak while Netflix keeps shoveling money into it.
